Edu-Cat-Malaysia in conjunction with The Malaysia Australia Business Council (“MABC) and Rotary International will be organising Clean Up Malaysia Day taking place in various locations throughout the country on, or around, Saturday October 6th 2012.

Edu-Cat-Malaysia is a member of “Clean Up the World”, a global environmental initiative supported by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). The program originated in Australia, and now attracts an estimated 35 million participants in more than 130 countries each year ( www.cleanuptheworld.org ).

In 2011 the first Clean Up Malaysia event attracted over 1,000 volunteers focused on a project to clean the Port Klang Marina ( www.cleanupmalaysia.org ). This year we expect more than 3,000 volunteers to support events taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Alor Star, Penang and Langkawi. The prime purpose of the 2012 nationwide campaign is to draw public attention to the ever increasing problem of waterway pollution with the long term goal of educating the Malaysian community about the massive pollution problem in our waterways caused mainly by the indiscriminate disposal of waste and littering. Water is and will remain one of our most precious resources.

The MABC is coordinating sponsorship opportunities for this very worthwhile social responsibility project.
